| Karen Warner & Associates delivers unparalleled strategy, business development and execution. Three distinguishing principles govern our work with corporations, practices, teams, and individuals: | ||
| •
To Demystify and Simplify We demystify and make simple the best practices of business and marketing and get those best practices into the hands of critical stakeholders. We embrace the notion that “hope is not a strategy,” and then we put a clear and workable strategy in place. |
||
| •
To Recognize and Develop Good People We recognize that an organization of any size is only as good as the clarity, intentions, motivation and contribution of the good people who comprise it. We strive to develop those people according to their values, abilities, and fit. |
||
|
• To Operate Within “The Big Picture” We handle all assignments, from strategic to tactical, with the overarching scenarios for the company’s growth – and resources – in mind. Put another way: to us, all tactics are strategic. |
||
| Depending upon the engagement, I may work alone or in partnership with a group of carefully selected Associates. Designed on a "Marketing Central" model, Karen Warner & Associates is fortunate to draw on the talents and superior thinking of a diverse group of other “mere mortals” whom I have had the good fortune to work with over the years. These Associates all share common traits: high integrity; results-driven delivery; willingness to break the rules if necessary; and sense of humor. Above all, each of these trusted colleagues unerringly delivers unforeseen value that is always greater than the sum of its parts. | ||
| Like
many of the professionals I now counsel, I left behind a corporate career
in order to build a professional practice that is aligned to the values
that fuel this stage of my life. Prior to founding Karen Warner &
Associates on the heels of 9/11, I had spent nearly 27 years in corporate
settings, holding management and, eventually, executive positions in Communications,
Marketing, and Strategic Planning. Though I have worked with some of the
finest strategy and marketing groups in the world, from American Express
to IBM, and within the high tech and private equity sectors, I come by
my “marketing mortal” roots honestly. The results of my own
odyssey are reflected in the success my clients enjoy today. Through applied
best practices, step-by-step methodology and true thought leadership,
together we create a well-tuned engine for powering business growth.
Before founding Karen Warner & Associates, I served as Vice President of Marketing for Atlas Venture, in the private equity arena. Over the years, I have effectively managed and mentored dozens of executives, individuals, and work teams, helping them to set and to achieve both group and individual goals. In addition to a Bachelors degree, on-the-job education, and extensive business reading, I studied international marketing in the Marketing Management program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. I broadened my coaching expertise through the Hudson Institute professional certification program and am a member of the International Coach Federation. In addition to running Karen Warner & Associates, I am a practicing literary agent with The Helen Rees Agency in Boston, typically representing authors whose books explore the convergence of technology and business practice. Recent published books represented by the agency include MBA in a Box and Pirates of the Digital Millennium. Due to the sensitive nature of the work we do, we keep our client list confidential. Clients who have agreed to be named are listed in my CV where relevant. |
